RECORD OF UPDATES Version 1.5 * Expanded from only Facilities Management Series to Industrial Engineers Toolbox. Programs added were: A/E, E/E, Operations Process Charting, Flow Process Charting, Operator Process Charting, Man-machine Process Charting, Simo Charting & Value Engineering. * Customization of PC-KEY DRAW, including symbol libraries and hot key schedules with macros. * Interface between ALPS Software and PC-KEY DRAW. Version 2.1 * A special upgrade for a customized offering to the U. S. Postal Service. * Set-up routine changed to allow VGA, as well as, CGA & EGA. * USPS--@.EXE developed- for a demonstration over the Postal Service Bulletin Board of ALPS/OEDWARE as appropriate for Postal Service use. Version 2.0 * Incorporated VGA change from Version 2.1. * Changed to 6 character file names in lieu of directories and sub-directories. * Reduced the number of batch files. * Reduced the number of program lines through-out all ALPS programs. * Combined Layout Planning Program and it's print routine. * Changed Automatic Directory Tree Program to a Directory Manager, allowing view of tree, changing directories, making directories, copying files, moving files, viewing the contents of a file, deleting files, and removing directories. * Some minor bug fixes. VERSION 2.2 * Upgraded .HOT files to conform with PC_KEY_DRAW. * Some minor bug fixes. * Added Time & Date line to initial entry menu. * Added screen configuration routine to initial entry menu. VERSION 2.5 (5/1/91) * Added Decision Analysis Program, allowing amortization analysis, depreciation tables (straight line & sum of the years), development of salvage value using inflation plus building decay & obsolescence, the 6 compound interest algorithms, discounted differential cash flow analysis, and return on investment (internal rate of return) analysis. * Added Statistical Analysis Program, develops table of random numbers for predetermined sample size (showing which number to select, normal distribution, universe standard deviation, ``t'' Test, CHI-SQUARE Test, confidence limits from ``t'' and chi-square, linear regression and correlation. * Added Element Analysis Program for development of MTM forms by certified MTM analysts. MTM application data is not supplied. Forms generated are Element Analysis (Methods Analysis) Chart and a summary sheet. Frequencies are automatically included in total TMU, a sub total for each element is developed, and a total for the chart is developed and then converted to hours, minutes, and seconds. The printouts number the pages. Interface with PC_Key Draw is allowed for development of Parts Sketches and Workplace Layout Sketches. * Deleted time & date line & minor bug fixes. VERSION 3.0 (11-15-91) * Added Complement & Schedules program allowing development of complement data base, that shows name, address, telephone, social security number, salary, job title, job skills, department assignment, tour assignment, bid days off, & accession date. It also allows development of weekly work schedules from the complement data, with manual adjustment for vacation, sick & with out pay leaves. Also, variable days off schedules can be posted. A history file can also be developed, for scheduling versus actual use analysis. * Added Volume, Hours & Productivity program allowing tracking of actual volume and hours in each department and tour. A one time entry of each volume category by department & tour is developed for use as an automatic prompting device for posting of daily volumes and hours. Productivity reports can be called for each volume category, tour or department separately or all can be called. A history file is generated to develop weekly, accounting period and yearly data, including to date data. Staffing projections can be developed by using average daily data generated from the history file with input as to per centage for fringe hours, increased per centage of productivity and volume. * Version 3.0 has split into two tracks: 1. continues with the Industrial Engineers Tool Box title which supports use of PC KEY-DRAW; 2. a new title the Personal Consultant supports use of Draft Choice, eliminating the need for additional directories beyond \ALPS. Basic, C, & Pascal languages are used through the systems in the areas that is most advantageous for each. * The only executable files remaining with the extension .EXE are for the two cad systems and ALPS.EXE, which still acts as a process controller. All the other programs have an .OBJ extension and will not execute without being called by ALPS.EXE. This was done to assure that the one registry reminder screen in place for all of ALPS programs would be seen at least once each session, without needing to be tacked onto each stand alone program. When it was attempted to include Draft Choice as an .OBJ file call some problems were encountered during plot, and it was felt that no real advantage could be gained from including bugs unnecessarily. * The monitor configuration routine needed in version 2.5 has been eliminated, and the system is checked for the monitor in use. Graphics screens automatically adjust to the monitor detected. * The entry logo screen is seen only once. All the ALPS programs have been streamlined to be more compact and with faster menu response where possible and without taking chances with faulty entries.
